Seen from the outside, this media room addition on a home in suburban Seattle is complete except for final touch-up painting and was built using structurally insulated panels, or SIP's. SIP's laminate a 6-8" thick layer of strofoam between two OSB boards in pre-made shapes, thus combining framing, sheathing, and insulating into a single step. Once completed and clad in siding, shingles, or another exterior surface, S.I.P. construction is indistinguishable from traditional stick framing. |
